30% of all sales in this collection go to support the American Cancer Society. Meet Missy Marrs of Lexington, KY. She is Lexington's 2017 Survivor Honoree and also part of my 'Some Are Special' Project.
Missy is BRCA 1 positive and a 3-time ovarian cancer survivor. She was diagnosed at the age of 29, only one year after the passing of her mother. Both Missy's mother and grandmother died in their early 50s of ovarian cancer so Missy chose to have a prophylactic double mastectomy followed by a prophylactic complete hysterectomy. The biopsy of her ovaries following surgery showed high grade cancer cells and so her journey began.
The American Cancer Society saves lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against cancer.
The American Cancer Society is working to finish the fight against every cancer in every community. We are the largest private, not-for-profit funder of cancer research in the United States, investing more than $4 billion since 1946. Thanks in part to our contributions, more than 1.5 million lives have been saved in the US in the past two decades.
